Dr. William Connor Primary School has been crowned the Primary School Netball 2026 Champions following an exciting finals match against Deane Glasford Primary School.

The championship match, played on 2 July 2026, saw Dr. William Connor Primary School defeat Deane Glasford Primary School 16–13 to claim the title. Deane Glasford Primary School started strongly, leading 4–2 at the end of the first quarter, before Dr. William Connor Primary School responded to take an 8–6 lead by half-time. The contest remained competitive through the third quarter, with Dr. William Connor leading 12–10 before closing out the match 16–13.

For Dr. William Connor Primary School, Shania Jarvis scored 9 goals from 14 attempts, while Jian Taylor added 7 goals from 10 attempts. For Deane Glasford Primary School, Cavanique Bass scored 6 goals from 13 attempts, and Kalea Bryan scored 7 goals from 17 attempts.

Dr. William Connor Primary School’s championship win was further highlighted by several major individual awards. Jian Taylor was named Most Valuable Player of the Competition, Most Accurate Shooter, and Zone 2 Most Valuable Player, while Zencia Cannonier was recognised as Best Attacking Player.

Deane Glasford Primary School, which finished second overall, was also represented among the awardees, with Isabella Collins named Zone 3 Most Valuable Player.

In the 3rd place match, played on 1 July 2026, St. Paul’s Primary School defeated Newton Ground Primary School 10–9 in a closely contested consolation final. St. Paul’s led 4–1 after the first quarter and 6–2 at half-time, before Newton Ground mounted a strong comeback in the second half. St. Paul’s held on to secure 3rd place by a one-goal margin.

Scoring for St. Paul’s Primary School, Yazminique Leader recorded 8 goals from 13 attempts, while Lexanne Langley added 2 goals from 7 attempts. For Newton Ground Primary School, J’Nesha Gumbs scored 7 goals from 16 attempts, and Jacenia Powell scored 2 goals from 16 attempts.

St. Paul’s Primary School also received major recognition, with K’Zonae Blake named Best Defending Player and Zone 1 Most Valuable Player.

The final standings saw Dr. William Connor Primary School finish as champions, Deane Glasford Primary School place second, St. Paul’s Primary School secure third, and Newton Ground Primary School finish fourth.

Zone honours were also recognised, with St. Paul’s Primary School winning Zone 1, Dr. William Connor Primary School winning Zone 2, and Halliday Smith Primary School winning Zone 3. The zone runners-up were Newton Ground Primary School in Zone 1, Cayon Primary School in Zone 2, and Deane Glasford Primary School in Zone 3.

The Department of Sports congrat Avant all participating schools, athletes, coaches, officials, and supporters for contributing to a successful Primary School Netball 2026 Competition. The tournament once again highlighted the importance of school sport in developing skill, confidence, discipline, teamwork, and pride among young athletes.
